At Kinetic Zen, we offer self-defence classes in London that go beyond just learning to throw a punch. Our goal is to give you the skills, understanding, and confidence to protect yourself in real-world situations—whether you're standing, grappling, or dealing with armed threats.
We don’t teach just one martial art. We combine the strengths of several disciplines so that our students learn to:
To achieve this, our classes integrate:
Most of our students train a combination of Krav Maga and BJJ. This gives them a well-rounded ability to adapt to any situation.
If you value measurable progress, we offer two paths:

There’s no pressure to specialise. If your goal is to become confident, capable, and calm under pressure, we recommend trying both Krav Maga and BJJ. You'll get exposure to striking, ground fighting, and everything in between.
If you're unsure where to start, just book a trial session and we’ll guide you from there.
Self-defence is more than just technique—it’s about mindset, preparation, and knowing how to respond under stress. We’re here to help you build those skills one session at a time.
Q: Do I need to choose between Krav Maga and BJJ at Kinetic Zen?
A: No. Most of our students train a mixture of both. Krav Maga covers striking, weapon defence and self-defence theory, while BJJ focuses on ground control. Training both gives you the full picture.
Q: Can I earn belts or rank at Kinetic Zen?
A: Yes. Krav Maga grades are awarded via formal assessments through the 360 Krav Maga network. BJJ belts and stripes are awarded by Abbie O’Toole based on your progress in class.
Q: I’m a complete beginner—can I still join your self-defence classes?
A: Absolutely. We welcome beginners, and our classes are designed to be approachable from day one. You’ll build skill and confidence at your own pace.
